Minister Janelle Gayle is a lifelong United Methodist born and raised in New York. As an active member of her local church she participates in many of its ministries and activities. Some of her passions included teaching Sunday School, being the Nurture Ministries Chairperson, and leading the Tech Ministry. After taking part in a Summer Social Justice Internship with the General Board of Global Ministries of the United Methodist Church, she left with an unexpected call to Ordained Ministry. After discerning this call, she applied to Drew Theological Seminary.
While at Drew, she was fortunate to intern with the United Methodist Women in the Office of Racial Justice. Janelle received her Master of Divinity degree from Drew in May 2021, and is a Certified Candidate for Ordained Ministry in the New York Annual Conference. She currently serves in ministry alongside the lead pastor of St. Mark’s UMC, providing support in the form of preaching, administering sacraments and other ministerial responsibilities. Janelle believes the church is the place where we are empowered to go out and be the hands and feet of Christ in the world. She also has a passion for Digital Ministry and loves a good hymn sing
