Frisbees and Sighs

Sunday, MUMC turned into a nine-hole frisbee golf course.  Though a frisbee golf championship may not be part of the plan, there was lots of laughter, and a little bit of mud.  Apparently, frisbees don't always fly straight and are strangely attracted to muddy places.

After finishing up and a few youth cleaning up, we moved inside for worship.  During worship, we discussed Romans 8:26-27.

"Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we ought, but that very Spirit intercedes with sighs too deep for words. And God, who searches the heart, knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God."

There are times in our lives when words just aren't enough.  Little did we know of the tragedy that would take place in Las Vegas the following morning.  When I saw the news, all I could do close my eyes, bow my head and sigh in prayer.

In the end, I am thankful for the joy of our frisbee-ing, for divine inspiration to explore the verses from Romans, and for the intercession of the Spirit to help us to pray when the words won't come.
