Three ways you can help those affected by Hurricane Harvey
- Pray. Pray for everyone affected by this devastating storm and for all of those who are on the ground offering their assistance for survival, recovery, and restoration.
- We are partnering with Friendswood UMC which is just south of Houston and is actively involved in the recovery effort. We are in communication with the senior pastor who is sharing whatever needs he has with us. This is on ongoing relationship and we are ready to help with their changing needs.
Right now, they are in need of clean-up supplies. A wish-list has been set-up on Amazon that you can purchase items and send them directly to the congregation. The church’s address is built-into the wish list which can be found at http://a.co/geR29cD.
Information about their work can be found at http://friendswoodmethodist.org/harvey/
- The United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) has been working on this disaster even before Hurricane Harvey made landfall. Their website offers many ideas on how you can help: http://www.umcor.org/umcor/resources/news-stories/2017/august/0825umcorrespondstoharvey and you can donate to them directly at https://secure3.convio.net/gbgm/site/SPageNavigator/umcor_donate.html?type=1002&project=901670.
“100% of the donor dollar goes to people in need.” UMCOR administration is funded through the United Methodist Church to make this possible.
