Small Group Overview

Our small groups are a way to get to know each other and form a support group. Our groups meet weekly or biweekly to talk, pray, and study.  Some groups will include a light meal or social activities.  Listed below are a few descriptions of some of our ongoing small groups here at   "Your Light on the Hill  ".  If you would like more information please call the church office, 856-983-9587.

Koinonia:  Our small group consists of 12 adults varying in ages from...well old enough.  We have individual members, both male and female, as well as 3 couples that comprise our group.  Currently, we are studying "The Essential Bible Guide."

HomeBuilders:  HomeBuilders is dedicated to preserving and enriching the lives of Christian married couples.  We meet every other Friday evening to learn, share, and fellowship with married couples who recognize that there are distractions in the world that can destroy the covenant relationship of marriage.

Saturday Morning Men's Group:  We meet every Saturday at Medport Diner on Route 70, Medford, NJ from 7:00 - 8:15 a.m. for Bible study and breakfast.  Our group follows the weekly, "Man in the Mirror" series by Patrick Morley. The current series topic is, "Doing Business God's Way".

Open Door Coffee Fellowship:  Every Sunday morning the snacks are out and coffee brewing as we gather in the Discipleship Center for fellowship.  We then settle down to an informal hour of sharing joys, concerns, and into a lively discussion on biblical, spiritual, or current world topics.

Young Adults Small Group:  This Group meets evey Wednesday night, 6:30 p.m. at the church.  Each week they discuss current topics in Christian studies.  There is also a time of prayer and fellowship.  The group is open to young adults in their 20s and 30s.

Women's Class  The Life You've Always Wanted

The Women's Sunday School that meets in the Mansion conference room from 9:50-10:50am will be studying "The Life You've Always Wanted" by John Ortberg with Stephen and Amanda Sorenson when we start back up in the fall.

Excerpt:  "The Life You've Always Wanted offers modern perspectives on the ancient path of the spiritual disciplines.  It's a road map toward true transformation, compelling because it starts not with ourselves but with the object of our journey-Jesus Christ.  Ortberg shows us that Christianity isn't a matter of externals, of outer form that gets the church stamp of approval, but of Christ's character becoming etched with ever-increasing depth into our own character.  Paved with humor and sparkling anecdotes, it is an encouraging and challenging approach to a Christian life that 's worth living.  Life on the edge that fills our ordinary world with new meaning, hope, change, and a joyous, growing closeness to Christ."

Prayerfully consider joining us for this powerful study.  There isn't much work involved, but you will be thankful that you came.  It is a great way to get closer with the women in our church family.  We really enjoyed ourselves this past year, and I think I can speak for all the women who attended...we felt blessed to be with each other and have each other's support.

THE GOSPELS -- Bible Study

Class meets Sunday 9:50 to 10:50 a.m. in the Discipleship Center.

This adult bible study class is taking a Journey Through the Bible, beginning with the Gospels.  Our focus is an in-depth study of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John (in harmony, chronologically studying the life of Christ).

In the New Testament we come face to face with Jesus of Nazareth and his first followers.  The message and teachings of Jesus have challenged lives and changed them.  Its pages contain a message about human nature and needs that is of direct relevance to the concerns of everyday life in any time, place, or situation.  It has inspired people to give up all they have, even their lives, in the search and effort to do God's will.  It has been the foundation of nations, the strength of millions, hope to the oppressed, and comfort to the dying.  It contains the story of God's continued love for his people expressed through his son, Jesus, who made salvation possible through his death and resurrection.  It contains a message of sacrifice and love that gives hope and life to everyone.  It is the "Old old story, of Jesus and his glory, of Jesus and his love."

Our aim is to open our minds to diligently study the message of the New Testament and seek from within it God's message, through Jesus Christ, to each one of us. No homework, just good sharing in the fellowship of his presence.

ALL ARE WELCOME!  STOP IN FOR A DAY OR THE DURATION
